Sadler is a small incorporated city in the western part of Grayson County, in North Texas near the Oklahoma line. It sits on U.S. Route 82, about five miles west of Whitesboro and roughly seventeen miles west of Sherman, the county seat. The 2020 census recorded 336 residents, down slightly from 343 in 2010. The town is the center of a broad farming and ranching district. The landscape opens into pasture and cropland between Whitesboro to the east and the Lake Texoma shoreline to the north, and the community's identity remains tied to agriculture and open country. Many surrounding properties are working farms and ranches rather than residential subdivisions, giving the area a distinctly rural, low-density character. Lake Texoma, an 89,000-acre reservoir impounded on the Red River along the Texas-Oklahoma line, lies a short drive to the north and anchors the region's fishing, boating, and shoreline recreation. Immediately east of town, the 11,320-acre Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, established in 1946 on Lake Texoma's Big Mineral Arm, preserves wetlands and uplands for migratory birds and wildlife, reinforcing the area's quiet, conservation-oriented feel. Sadler appeals to buyers who want acreage and rural space rather than subdivision lots, while staying a short drive from Sherman's commercial center and the growing Texoma region. U.S. 82 provides direct four-lane access, so the town remains practical for daily errands and regional trips even as it keeps its small-town scale. It is a deliberately low-density setting that has held its agricultural roots even as the wider North Texas corridor has grown around it.
